Avery Brooks – Commander Benjamin Sisko

Avery Brooks is a talented actor who has done some powerful work during his career. None of this is more recognized than his work on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” He was pretty iconic, too, becoming the first African American to portray a leadership position in the franchise.

He played Commander Benjamin Sisko from 1993 to 1999 but had already made a name for himself in the ’80s series “Spenser: For Hire” and its spinoff “A Man Called Hawk.” He also played  Dr. Bob Sweeney in “American History X,” and in 2020, he appeared in a documentary called “Mysteries of Ancient China.”
