Captain Hikaru Sulu – George Takei

If Whoopi Goldberg’s fandom proved one thing, it’s that “Star Trek” has always had a diverse cast of actors. George Takei was a part of that diversity when he joined the cast for the original series. He played the character Hikaru Sulu, a helmsman on the Starship Enterprise, and joined for the second pilot and subsequent original seasons.
He also starred in six feature films, including the original “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” and “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.” He also had many other film and TV roles; these include “Fresh Off the Boat” and a voice role in 2021’s “Star Wars: Visions.”
