Michigan – Outbound Moves: 56.9%

At $20 an hour, even employed personnel don’t feel secure and comfortable with their Michigan-based jobs. After conducting a survey in 2019, the Michigan Association of United Ways claimed that many households weren’t able to afford basic needs like healthcare and rents.

A major reason which has led to a mass movement of people is the lack of a cultural center. Unlike New York City, Boston, or Chicago, there are not many arts-enthusiasts or finance-related jobs for the folks out there. Oh, did we mention that Michigan experiences really harsh winters?
