Kansas – Outbound Moves: 58.5%

There is no place like home for Dorothy, but that sentiment doesn’t seem to be resonating with the people of Kansas. Over half of the population shipped out in search of work, and surprisingly, the state isn’t very expensive to live in. In fact, it is not so hard to get a job while living in the sunflower region of America.
Despite the cost-of-living being in the affordable range, the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggests that the workers make $6000 less than the average American wage. While retirement and family are also reasons for shifting from Kansas, salaries seem to be the driving factor.
