Oklahoma also only has a fraction of more people moving there than leaving. With 64% of people fleeing to pursue jobs elsewhere, the state needs to improve its citizens’ career opportunities to entice more people. One way the federal government can achieve this is by increasing the minimum wage, but this has yet to happen.
Being paid more money would certainly go a long way towards making people stay! The local market could also branch out into more diverse industries as it is currently reliant on traditional ones. Finally, changing the oil industry’s taxation could help as every time oil prices collapse, Oklahoma risk bankruptcy.
