Maryland – Outbound Moves: 51.6%
This coastal state has recently come under the spotlight owing to its increasing rate of outbound moves. Besides better jobs, most of the people leaving are in retirement age, 55 and above, and it all boils down to the cost of living.
It can be quite expensive to reside in Maryland, and the state is ranked 7th out of 52 states in a recent survey, with the cost of housing also being above average market rates. The only upside is Maryland’s very affordable health care, yet, it’s still not enough to keep people from moving out in droves.
