Kentucky – Outbound Moves: 56%

Kentucky’s minimum wage, which lies just above the federal hourly rate of $7.25, is the main reason people are leaving in droves. Besides, the unemployment rate is a bit on the higher end at 4.3%, and most people cite looking for a job as one of the top reasons for leaving the state.

Unsurprisingly, most of the traffic is composed of the young population seeking greener pastures. In as much as it’s scenic, Kentucky, the horse capital of the world, seemingly isn’t good enough for over 56% of all outbound movers.
