Iowa – Outbound Moves: 55%

Those golden cornfields might be a sight for sore eyes, but the allure only seems temporary for the ‘Hawkeyes.’ The slow life and lack of progress, even in the biggest cities of Iowa, have led to a search for alternatives. If not for these problems, Iowa seems to be doing well when it comes to keeping the unemployment in check and cost-of-living optimal.
Almost 70% of those headed out was in pursuit of new jobs, and the rest had cited other factors. But one aspect everyone agrees with is the fact that there is very little upward mobility in the state!
