The woman in the photo above was one of the Newyork Islanders’ ice girls. Apart from shoveling snow, the other duties of the ice girls is doing promotional work. It seems the woman was doing her promotional duty by giving the jersey away to the fans. Fans in the row behind her seem deeply engrossed in the ice hockey game.

The Newyork Islanders ushered in the ice girls era in 2001, but they got rid of them in the 2015-16 season. They did this because many fans would complain about how scantily the women were dressed during most matches hence demeaning their female fans.
