Winning By All Means

In baseball, there is a ball, but it is just for calling out runners from the field. Most of the game’s mechanics revolve around running the bases and making sure to avoid a force-out. If this base runner’s turn had come sooner than planned, it was obvious that the catcher wasn’t going to take a risk on his being forced out on the field.
It wasn’t enough to just touch him with the ball and tag him out; he also ensured it was a punch-out. If the Giants hadn’t seen that coming, we suppose the keeper was only observing the situation.
