Maria Sharapova is a Russian tennis player. She is among the ten women and the only Russian who has ever achieved a career grand slam, which means she has won all major tennis championships in one calendar year. She hit her first tennis ball when she was four and began practicing tennis at a local park with her dad.

Living in the United States since 1994, Sharapova went from being a young girl from the remote city of Nyagan to becoming a five-time World No. 1 tennis player. She has been on Sports Illustrated cover and featured in commercials for major brands like Nike and Canon.
