Alana Blanchard – Surfing

Alana Blanchard is an American surfer and model. Her father taught her surfing when she was just four years old and started competing at age nine. She won first place in the shortboard at the 2009 T&C Women’s Pipeline Championships. She has won more championships in Hawaii, Spain, and Maui.
In 2011, fellow surfer Bethany Hamilton lost her arm to a shark attack. Alana and Bethany have been good friends since childhood, but the traumatic event has luckily not made the two talented surfers give up on the ocean. Their struggle is documented in the 2011 documentary “Soul Surfer.”
