Driftwood Beach – Jekyll Island, Georgia

Driftwood Beach is located at the end of Jekyll Island and is one of Georgia’s gems. It gets its name from the hordes of driftwood trees that are left behind weathered and gnarled from years of erosion of the sand, causing the trees to uproot and pass away. The effect is as stunning as it is otherworldly, with the trees’ silhouettes being a major attraction for photographers.
The strikingly beautiful contrast of the soft white sands and the decaying tree stumps is quite picturesque. If that’s not enough, the beach is also quite popular for weddings, especially at the time of sunrise and sunset when the place looks more captivating than ever.
