The Statue Of David Is Actually Gigantic

Reading about the masterpiece that is Michelangelo’s David statue in books really doesn’t do it justice. Although it looks like a realistic depiction of the human body, its actual size tells a different story. Standing at a towering 17 feet, this marble David is a giant that even Goliath wouldn’t want to mess with.

That said, it’s really an artwork a person needs to see to appreciate. David is currently housed in the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze in Florence, Italy. With it weighing about as much as 80 men, rest assured the statue won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
