Looking at a row of wind turbines from afar, they can look deceivingly small. Some would say they even look like those paper stick fans kids play with. In reality, though, these structures are massive. After all, they do harness the power of strong winds to make electricity.

The average wind turbine installed in the United States is around 280 feet in height. So, you’d understand how the one pictured here easily dwarfs a fully grown man. But they’re only bound to get taller and bigger. As of 2021, plans for wind turbines that are 344 feet tall and equipped with 262-foot blades are underway.
