Photos Of Arctic Ice A Century Apart

Now, here’s a saddening size comparison. Believe it or not, these two pictures show the same spot in the Arctic. Taken about a century apart, the massive difference between their ice coverage really shows us the accelerated melting of the North Pole’s glaciers.
Once almost the size of the mountains behind it, the block of ice has practically disappeared. Sadly, that’s pretty on par with the situation of polar ice caps due to climate change. In the past three decades alone, the Arctic’s oldest and thicket ice declined by a whopping 95%.
