Store-Bought Vs. Home-Grown Strawberry

The exciting thing about gardening is that you’ll never know what you’re going to get. Sure, you can expect to get strawberries from strawberry seeds, but you might end up with a harvest of flat berries like this avid gardener did.
Here’s a comparison of what they grew (on the right) and the fruit they bought from the store. Pretty cool, huh? That’s fasciation for you. The strawberry, which is still edible, turned out this way likely because of several embryonic growing points fusing together or an imbalance in hormones. This then led to the fruit’s fan-like appearance.
