Tiger Fangs Or Acacia Thorns?

No, you’re not looking at tiger fangs or the teeth of a now-extinct giant predator. These are just the thorns of the Vachellia erioloba (also called the Acacia erioloba), a tree that thrives in the harshest conditions. It grows in South Africa, where it’s a protected tree and other countries in the continent.

Looking at those thorns, it’s probably people who need to be protected from this tree! On average, these pointy parts grow up to 2.3 inches. So, it seems like the ones pictured here are on the longer side.
