On the Memo: Personal Space

We hope the woman in the picture consented to be hugged from the back by this man. Because by the looks of this photo, this woman seems surprised at the proximity between her and the man or maybe it’s a photo taken at the wrong moment especially considering the other man in the background.

A study published in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence has shown that most men still don’t have a proper understanding of what consent is. They misperceive a woman’s interest in them as consent. The study was conducted on 145 men, most of them Caucasian of race.
