Pakistan has long made the news for its unstable and troubling political and security situation. But despite it, Pakistani women have continued to persevere in the face of adversity and have gone on to achieve success in many fields including sports, literature, and politics.

Malala Yousafzai has gone on to win a Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts for women’s education. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a two-time Oscar-winning documentary director from Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was the first Prime Minister of an Islamic country and was also the first woman to give birth while in office.
