A flat soda is such a mood spoiler, and to reduce that from happening, companies install something in the caps. If you’re a keen-eyed person, you must have noticed that there’s usually a plastic disc underneath a bottle cap, and that is how your drink stays carbonated.

Raise your hand if you also thought it’s just for show and doesn’t have a purpose. Well, it does! We don’t know the exact science behind it, but these discs trap the fizz so that there’s enough carbon dioxide in each serve. Try taking it out next time and see what happens!
