Tiny Belt on Jackets

Some brilliant design features that were made to fulfill the needs of their time have become irrelevant now. Still, despite their practical usage being outdated, their aesthetic was good enough to carry them through decades and keep them relevant today.
One such example is this little belt that we see adorning the backs of trench coats and pea coats. The military used it centuries ago when soldiers used oversized coats that doubled as blankets. They used the belts to gather the extra material to allow free movement while walking. Talk about fashion with a function!
