Ear-flutter Frenzy: The Feline Dance You Didn’t Know About

Spotted Mittens doing a little ear dance recently? Those rapid-fire ear flutters are more than just a quirky cha-cha. Cats have a whopping 32 muscles in each ear (humans have a mere 6)! This allows them to rotate, tilt, and flutter them with finesse. Why the ear jive?
Well, it can be a response to an annoying itch, an irksome ear mite, or perhaps they’re just shaking off some debris. Sometimes, it’s their radar-like way of honing in on faint sounds from afar. Flat “airplane ears” mean beware; the cat is irritated, fearful, or angry and may pounce to attack! Forward-pointing ears indicate a happy and confident cat.
