Colin Powell was a New Yorker before he became the Secretary of State, and he joined the United States Army to become a decorated four-star general. He grew up and attended high school in the Bronx and once had an apartment a few blocks from there.

Powell and his wife purchased the Upper West Side residence for $1.9 million in 2007. They renovated the 1,566-square-foot apartment to suit their taste, and it served as their home until they sold the three-bedroom apartment for $2.8 million. Sadly, Powell passed away in October 2021 due to health complications.
