Not many know actor Nehemiah Persoff, and understandably so because he has long retired from show business. However, fans should know that his career spanning at least 50 years was filled with notable portrayals, including in “Some Like It Hot,” “The Wrong Man,” and “An American Tail.”

The Jerusalem-born star was initially a subway technician before being bitten by the acting bug. After retiring from the industry in 1999, Persoff shifted his focus to painting, specifically watercolor. These days, the actor, whose wife passed away in 2021, leads a quiet life in Cambria, California.
