Barbara Knox – 87, Oldham

As one of the longest-serving cast members of Coronation Street, Barbara Knox has won the hearts of millions of fans from her portrayal of Rita Tanner in the popular soap. She first appeared on the ITV sitcom on the 2nd of December, 1964, as Rita Littlewood for one episode before returning with a recurring role as the co-owner of The Kabin.

After graduating from high school, Knox worked as a telegraphist, among various other jobs. In 1962, however, she decided to make a change, debuting as an actor in The Boyfriend at Oldham Rep. The 62nd season of Coronation Street, starring Knox, is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
