Iris Apfel – 99

Iris Apfel, the American fashion icon, is one of the industry’s oldest tastemakers and, clearly, an example that age is just a number. Nine U.S. presidents would welcome her as an interior designer, and so she was dubbed “The First Lady of Fabric” (she founded an international fabric manufacturing company with her late husband).
Just in time for her 100th birthday, she won the Andrée Putman Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is only in its third year, but it recognizes Apfel as a singularity in the fashion industry, and one would be hard-pressed to deny that.
