Tony Burton, 78, 1937-2016

Tony Burton is famous for playing the corner man in six Rocky movies, first as Apollo Creed’s trainer and later Rocky Balboa’s. He was, himself, a real-life professional heavyweight boxer before he turned towards acting.

Curiously, he had found a passion for acting in prison, where he served time for stealing. Burton said it was, on the one hand, an amazing outlet from the emotional entanglements of his life and was something therapeutic that he needed. After having a promising career, Burton, at 78, died because of complications related to pneumonia.
