Diana, Princess of Wales, 36, 1961 -1997

When Diana, a working-class school teacher, wed Prince Charles, she captured the imagination of every ordinary person. She quickly became the most beloved member of the Royal Family in the 20th-century and given how things are currently going with the English Royals, possibly the 21st-century as well.

We all know that the marriage did not have a happily ever after, divorcing in 1996. There were even reports that both were unfaithful throughout the separation process. Tragically, Diana died after sustaining fatal injuries from a car accident on August 31, 1997. In a televised funeral, over two million people were in attendance.
