Naya Rivera, 33, 1987-2020

Naya Rivera was a child star in The Royal Family and later, as an adult, in Glee and Step Up: High Water. Ironically, she would find herself in high water again, this time in Lake Piru with her four-year-old son near her home in California.

From at least 1993, Lake Piru was the only lake in the country to permit swimming. She rented a boat, and in the afternoon, she and her son were taken by strong rip tides away from their vessel. According to reports, Rivera had enough strength to save her son, but not to protect herself as well. She was declared dead in July 2020.
