Jan Crouch, 77, 1939–2016

In 1973, Jan Crouch co-founded the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), which has grown to become one of the most profitable religious channels. It even earned Crouch a fortune of $50 million. She, along with her husband, was known for preaching Prosperity Theology.
She was involved in several controversial lawsuits, though. Her granddaughter, former chief finance director of TBN, accused her of misappropriating network funds and covering up an indecent assault. The late Paul Crouch, Jan’s ex-husband, also invoked how John The Baptist was beheaded for rebuking King Herod for his transgressions. After Jan’s death in 2016, her granddaughter was given $2 million for damages.
