Modern audiences will recognize her for her notable role as Violet Crawley in Downtown Abbey, but she’s been appearing in movies and TV shows ever since the ’50s. Known for her British accent and ways, which she normally incorporates in her characters, Smith was also responsible for portraying Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter movie franchise.
