While younger fans of EastEnders may know Anita Dobson as the wife of Brian May, Queen guitarist, she was also once part of the show. Who could ever forget the one and only Bet Lynch in Coronation Street? Between 1966 to 2003, Julie Goodyear played the barmaid and made an impression on the viewers. She was only supposed to appear for nine episodes but became regular, thanks to her charm. She briefly had to leave the show in the ’90s when she battled an illness.
Before making it big in Corrie, Goodyear was actually a well-known model. After leaving the soap opera, the actress starred in Revolver, Hollyoaks, and Tug of War. In 2020, she auctioned off her character’s jewelry for a good cause. At 79, she understandably sports wrinkles.
