Another Panned Blockbuster

For her next trick, Decker landed the female lead role of the physical therapist and army brat Samantha Shane in the sci-fi film Battleship. This was based on the popular strategy guessing game of the same name and also starred Liam Neeson, Rihanna, and Alexander Skarsgård.

Like most films based on games, the movie didn’t go down well with critics, and it also didn’t do well at the box office. It lost the studio $150 million, although it did make more ($303 million) than the production budget of $209 million. At least Decker got to work with injured troops at medical hospitals while making the film.
