Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway is an American author, whose book “The Old Man and the Sea,” helped propel him to prominence and global recognition. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature largely thanks to the piece. He authored six collections of short stories, seven novels, and two non-fiction books during the course of his career as a writer, all of which had a significant impact on writers who came after him.

Most of his published works—many of which were done posthumously—are regarded as classics of American literature. Hemingway had professional success as a writer, but his personal life was a perpetual struggle that later led to his death in 1961.
