Conrad Heyer

Conrad Heyer, a farmer and Revolutionary War warrior from the United States, is known for probably being the oldest American to have been captured on camera. Born in 1749, Heyer was a farmer before he participated in the American Revolution by serving in George Washington’s Continental Army. He was part of the armies that crossed the Delaware river.

He went back to Waldoboro after the war, where he continued to farm until he passed away in 1856. He received full military honors at his burial. Heyer was 103 years old when took a daguerreotype portrait in 1852. He, therefore, became the oldest individual known to have a photograph.
