Jefferson Davis

The fact that Jefferson Davis served as the Confederate States’ one and only president made him famous. He is also renowned for his significant service in the American Army as a soldier, Secretary of War, and Mississippi State Senator.
He developed a reputation for being a promoter of the slave trade and spoke out against any action done to free slaves. Jefferson was unanimously selected to serve as president when a number of states opted to split from the U.S. to form the Confederacy. However, once Lincoln was killed, the Confederate President was captured, and his regime collapsed.
