James K. Polk

The 11th President of the United States, James K. Polk, was a renowned American politician who led the country from 1845 to 1849. He served as a speaker of the House of Representatives from 1835 to 1839.

The most notable aspect of his presidency is the territorial expansion of the United States. Texas, Iowa, and Wisconsin were added by him. Polk negotiated the expansion of the Oregon territory with Great Britain after being elected president. As soon as his term as president ended, Polk departed the White House and went back to Nashville, keeping his commitment to the American people to serve them as president just once.
