Geronimo

During the protracted conflict in the 19th century, one of the most prominent Apache commanders and a medicine man named Geronimo stood out against the troops of the Mexican and American empires. His courage and strategic prowess significantly contributed to the humiliation suffered by the powerful military units of the United States and Mexico.

After three attempts at surrender, Geronimo was finally taken to the Apache camps in Arizona. He disliked it, though, and escaped. When he was eventually put in prison, the American military commanders treated him with respect because he had by that point gained notoriety. In 1909, he passed away in Oklahoma.
