A More Detailed Surface

Scientific advancements in the ‘60s meant that we finally got to explore and see more detailed Antarctica maps. Before satellites were used to give your phone its GPS function, they were used to chart the continent’s vast unknown areas.
Radar instruments aboard airplanes were also used for the same purpose. This method proved to be effective in examining the region way beyond the surface. We’re talking miles and miles beneath the visible ice here. The data gathered through this method helps glaciologists visualize the continent as no one has done before.
