Local Population In Danger

The 5,000 or so people who live in Antarctica only do so temporarily for research. So, you could say that the biggest stakeholders in the region are its local wildlife. The place is home to 15 species of dolphins and whales, five penguin species, and six seal species.
These same animals are vulnerable, as the continent’s landscape is changing rapidly due to rising temperatures. Scientists believe that they would likely be pushed to the limits of survival in the long term. Who knows, a time might come that people would only see these species in books.
