Chile is among the countries showing that change is possible. A global leader in copper production, the nation has made an investment in making its capital city of Santiago more eco-friendly with a fleet of electric buses.

As of 2019, Santiago’s streets host 386 electric buses, which comprise 6% of the city’s total. That makes Chile the second country with the most number of electric buses. The top spot belongs to China, which has over 400,000. The Asian country achieved this by subsidizing their public transportation system’s switch to electric vehicles.
