Setting A New Record

The canyon beneath Denman Glacier beat the Dead Sea’s previous record. For a time, it was believed that the shore on the edge of the Middle Eastern salt lake was the lowest elevation on land. The area measures 1,400 feet below sea level.
Meanwhile, giving the Denman Glacier canyon a run for its money is the world-famous Mariana Trench. Located in the Western Pacific, the trench goes down a mind-boggling 36,201 feet, making it both the deepest known point in the ocean and deepest part of the earth.
