In the 1970s and 1980s in particular, singer Nina Hagen established herself as an anti-establishment icon. With her eccentric appearances, her unusual voice and shrill outfits, the godmother of punk knew how to provoke like no other – be it on stage or in talk shows. But the artist also used her popularity to draw attention to grievances and to support street children. She has released over a dozen albums since 1978, the last in 2014. Even though she is now in her mid-60s, she can still be found on all kinds of stages and plays her impressive repertoire – from old songs to blues to jazz. She also works as a dubbing artist and actress.
