The proposal is the moment that initiates plans for the big day, and the royals also go all out for such announcements. Royal couples have always made formal appearances before members of the press to announce their impending nuptials. It’s a tradition that perhaps started with Lady Diana and Prince Charles. 

The betrothed royal women have usually chosen blue ensembles for the occasion, at least in the case of Lady Diana and the Duchess of Sussex. Markle settled for a white coat dress when she stood by Harry’s side to announce that they were engaged.
