Bachir Moukarzel’s “The Lockdown” is a haunting photo that depicts the impact of the 2020 pandemic on one of Dubai’s busiest highways. The image shows a completely deserted road, where once 7,000 vehicles an hour would travel. The drone used for this photo may have been the DJI Mavic Air 2, which is known for capturing aerial high-altitude shots.

Known as Sheikh Zayed Road, this infrastructure is the longest road in Dubai and is a major transport artery for the entire Emirate. This photo is a poignant reminder of the dramatic daily life changes brought about by the lockdown.
