Queen Elizabeth II – Fun With The Auxiliary Territorial Service
These days, you won’t really see that many women in the royal family enlist in the British Army. Queen Elizabeth II was such a remarkable woman because she was actually the first female royal who joined the army. She was part of the Auxiliary Territorial Service, which was basically the British Army’s women’s division during the Second World War. Joining the army was clearly good for the queen’s overall fitness as well. Queen Elizabeth II was eventually able to become an honorary junior commander after months of training.
