If dictionary companies start creating images to describe each word, this image will perfectly fit “irony.” This cardboard that reads “THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE” is worth 16.99 pounds. While that’s an insanely high price for a cardboard cutout, purchasing one surely means that the buyer doesn’t believe in the quote.

The proverb comes from a song of the same title sung by Buddy DeSylva, Lew Brown, and Ray Henderson in 1927 for the musical “Good News.” The proverb, as well as the song, have been used multiple times since then in pop culture, such as on this cardboard.
