Many people worldwide who might not even know the science behind this would surely know how this result was achieved. On the other hand, the person who posted this picture can’t gather his mind around the mystery. Certain questions come up much later in life than they should have. This is just one of those cases.

If you aren’t there yet, they poured water into a bottle and put it in a freezer rather than trying to push the ice through the mouth of the bottle. Cooling water makes its molecules contract causing them to stick together and giving them that whitish-looking color.
