Claudia Cardinale – Italian Bombshell, French Accent

Claudia Cardinale may be known as an Italian bombshell, but that’s not entirely the case because while both her parents are Italian, she was born and raised in Tunisia, a French protectorate in Africa. Cardinale had a heavy French accent, but it wasn’t detected in her early works because she would speak in a different accent on camera.
Cinema-goers never really got to hear her real voice until Federico Fellini’s “8 ½.” Cardinale is still acting and works quite a bit in France and Switzerland. She says she prefers to work with younger directors who are just making their first films.
